You already know what I am going to talk about. Instead of looking into the facts about this virus, shall we look at other equally important things for once? Yes, the Corona virus is deadly and people are suffering. So what can you do about all this? What is in your control? Well the answer is, nothing! Nothing is in our control as of now. No vaccine, no medicine and no control. Some even say it has the ability to mutate even further. Now let's ask this question again. What is in our control in this chaos? You maybe stay at home and wait for the storm to pass by. But other than being still what can you do here in this storm? Nothing! That's the answer to how to deal with this chaos. Being still. There's no denying how horrible this disease is. No one can run away from the fact that this is a war that we are fighting. But we will get through this together. This too shall pass!
We can see a very interesting incident in the bible in Mark 4:37. The disciples are traveling on a boat with Jesus. There's a huge storm and the waves are so big that it is starting to fill the boat. That's how huge the storm was. The author says in v37 that the wind was so fierce and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. So amidst such chaos, how would a normal human being react? Panicking is the immediate response. Am I right? Do you think anyone can sleep under such circumstances? Never! I obviously cannot be calm. But here in this passage, we can see Jesus sleeping on a cushion/pillow. Now normally when will you lay down on a pillow? Someone with an intention to sleep peacefully would lay down on a pillow to sleep. So Jesus did not doze off unintentionally in that boat due to the cool sea breeze. He slept on it peacefully until woken up by the disciples.
The disciples saw the storm but forgot who was in the boat with them. When Jesus woke up, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea "Hush, be still". You can clearly see the difference in the way they viewed this wind. In v37, it is mentioned as a great windstorm (NKJV). This is how the disciples viewed the storm. But Jesus, in v39 saw it as a normal wind. Another important thing you can notice here is that the sound of the storm did not wake Him up. But the disciples did. So today your cry from the boat can wake Him up. Your cry to Him can make Him put an end to this. The key is in your hands. The bible says 'I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.' Matthew 16:19. This just means that your prayers and your plea have the authority to put an end to things. It is never too late to start now. II Samuel 24:15-25 is about a plague that struck the land. And we can see that the convicted prayers of King David and one word from the Lord were enough to stop the plague that day.
Our response to all this should be being still. The bible says Be still and know that I am Lord. Yes, be still. Stop forwarding crap on social media to frighten people! Instead, start praying for this to pass soon. This is a prophecy being fulfilled. But your cry can move God's heart to stop this pestilence. Spread love. Spread peace and spread positivity. Stop traumatizing people with this chaos. And start lifting these things to God. People already know what they need to know. Stop meditating on this chaos and start meditating on God and His word.
